Who am I?

A little about me…. I love a good sunset, I love to travel and explore new cultures, new countries and people watching is one of my favourite things to do. I have two daughters who continue to teach me how to be a mum, I’m thankful they are very forgiving when I get it wrong. Return clients always make my heart warm and fuzzy. And….I adore children. If I could live in a world surrounded by children and their pure innocence 24/7 oh what a happy place!

Why I do what I do?

My goal in photographing little ones is to document those things we forget. Their tiny little toes, chubby cheeks, toothy smile, the things that change daily and before we know it, they are grown up and making families of their own. I want every shoot to stand the test of time. Images that take you back to those moments in your life that we can never get back. To use the skills I have learned to document those important memories in life so that your story is permanently recorded in time. Capturing the first few days of your baby’s life, photographing a child jumping in puddles without a care in the world, watching a teenager gain confidence throughout a shoot, photographing a woman during pregnancy, a family portrait that will be framed on your wall for generations to admire, a moment you can never get back. I understand just how fleeting those special moments are. To create a permanent reminder of that brief moment in time, this is why I do what I do.

Training

I have spent so many hours studying and educating myself in newborn photography. It was something I proactively did well before doing my first newborn shoot 13 years ago. I needed to make sure I was safely posing your most precious little being. This was pre “everything is on you tube” days so I sourced the best of the best and flew around the country to make sure I could learn from them. I did 1:1 mentoring with two of the worlds best newborn photographers. Kelly Brown from Little Pieces Photography, and American Amy McDaniel from Dewdrops Photography. I spent so much time studying safe handling of newborns, discussing in depth the birthing process with midwives and physiotherapists and how this effects the way in which I handle, pose and photograph newborns. To me, safety is paramount when photographing such precious beings and this was a very important part of my learning process. I continue to do mentoring every year and challenge myself to be better. Knowledge is power and I want to my clients to feel safe handing over their babies to be photographed.
